Pedestrian Safety Dyckman Street DOT Meeting- Walkable Streets!

Passing along meeting information shared by Martin Collins of Councilman Robert Jackson’s Office. Those with an interest for more walkable streets, pedestrian and car safety (and parents who use this street to get to the playground!)- might be worth your time to stop in.

“Dear Public and Elected Officials;

On November 4th, the Department of Transportation will be giving a presentation to the Community Board 12 Traffic and Transportation Committee. The presentation will be on Safety Improvements for the intersection of Broadway at Riverside Drive and Dyckman Street. DOT is proposing changes that include extended pedestrian crossing times, reduced vehicle-pedestrian conflicts, and left-turn prohibitions to create a safer environment for all users. We are confident these changes would greatly improve safety conditions at this very complex and confusing location.
Attached is a flyer for the meeting with Spanish version to follow. We ask that you help us in distributing it to your constituents. We hope you are able to come and participate in the discussion. Feedback from the community is an important and necessary component of our projects.
The meeting will be held on Monday, November 4th, 7:00 pm at the IS 52 (cafeteria), 650 Academy Street between Broadway and Vermilyea Avenue.
If you have further questions, you can contact me at this email address or call 212-839-6218.
Sincerely,
Josh Orzeck
